The actual notices are as follows:-

1 Lebensmittelabteilung
2 Erdgeschoss
3 Montag Ruhetag
4 geschlossen
5 Sportabteilung
6 Untergeschoss
7 Freitag geschlossen
8 Parkplatz
9 Toiletten
10 Geschenkabteilung

7.2

Objectives

Asking for and understanding information on opening hours and days.

Materials
Worksheet in Acrobat Reader format (183 bytes)

List of opening hours/days.

1 Make two copies of the list. Keeping the original as the master copy, blank out some of the opening hours and rest days from the other two, making sure that you don't blank out the same information in both.

2 Ask learners to ask each other questions to obtain the information missing from their lists.

3 When all the gaps are filled, A and B compare lists which should be identical or you could conduct a whole class question and answer session.

The completed lists can be retained as portfolio evidence.

This activity can also be carried out as a whole group information gap activity by giving each learner a list with only one piece of information on it.

7.3

Objectives

Consolidation of shopping vocabulary and practice in making simple value judgements in German.

Materials
Worksheet in Acrobat Reader format (183 bytes)

Role cards A and B.

1 Ask your learners, working in pairs, to read the role cards thoroughly before practising the conversation. They take turns in being the shopkeeper who starts the conversation.

2 At the end of the activity, ask pairs to work together to write a role play out in full, either one of the ones provided or one of their own.
