Objectives

Practice of town related vocabulary with revision of ‘Is it far?’ and likely replies.

Materials
Adobe.gif (224 bytes)

Sets of A and B information sheets.

Preparation

Photocopy A and B information sheets for each pair.

1 In pairs learners take turns to ask if the places marked with a question on their information sheet are in their partner’s town and if they’re far away. On their sheet they enter the distance or time given by their partner.

2 A starts and the dialogue should then be on-going until all the information has been shared – along the following lines:

3 Encourage everyone to ask in Russian for repetition or for a partner to speak slowly.

4 Successful communication of the information can be checked either by a whole class activity or by A and B comparing completed information sheets which should be identical.

The completed information sheets can be used as portfolio evidence.

Objectives

Reinforcement of town related vocabulary and practice of days of week and adjectival agreement.

Materials
Adobe.gif (224 bytes)

Sets of A and B information sheets.

Preparation

Photocopy A and B information sheets for each pair. Ensure everyone understands the concept of basic adjectival agreement (see page 55 of Talk Russian)

1 A starts by asking if the places indicated on sheet A are in B’s town and if they are open. B replies according to the information on sheet B and A records the given information on his/her sheet. The dialogue might go as follows. (You may wish to practise examples with the whole class first)

2 A and B then reverse the procedure and B asks for information.

3 A the end of the activity, A and B compare information.

Completed information sheets can be retained as portfolio evidence of competence.
