The activities in this section of the book are a mixture of reading, listening and speaking activities, which have been selected to bring together the topics and the language used in Talk Russian as a coherent whole. They are suitable as revision material or as assessment activities. Additional assessment of speaking skills can be carried out using the various ‘Now you’re talking’ pages as role plays, which could be recorded as portfolio evidence of competence.

Tutors should try to build up learners' confidence and impress upon them just how much they’ve covered, by asking them simple questions in Russian e.g.: their name; nationality; marital status; about their family; their telephone number; where they live; about their town; their likes and dislikes.

When sufficiently confident with the handwritten script, encourage learners to write a very simple, short paragraph introducing themselves, based on the above questions.
