These activities cover revision and assessment of finding the way around a place,
finding out about amenities and going shopping.
- Talk Greek book Activities 1, 5, 8 and 10 can be adapted and made into
listening exercises if you record yourself or get a/nother native speaker to say the
phrases on to a cassette. These can be used in class or given to learners on their own
individual cassette to be worked on at home.
-
- As an extension to Activity 2 in Talk Greek, use a simple town plan
including information collated about opening / closing times etc. and either record or
write down statements based on this information for learners either to listen to or read
and decide if they are true or false.
-
- Activities 3, 4, 7 and 9 can be extended by adding your own vocabulary, expressions and
statements. These can come in useful as supplementary material for extra practice,
homework, or for use in the classroom with learners who complete tasks before the others
in the group.
-
- For practising larger numbers, use four-digit numbers such as those in activity 8 in the
book in a bingo-type activity.
-
- Activity 6 in Talk Greek is ideal as a model for pairs or groups of
three to four learners to compose their own puzzle to be completed by other learners in
the group.
-
- Activity 11 can be used as a model for learners to write a paragraph about another
member of the group whom they have previously interviewed. By omitting the persons
name, this could be made into a read or listen and guess who activity for the
whole group.
