Get Into French
'Which Computing' - Best Buy
In March 2006 Which Computing magazine ranked Get Into French as their top CDROM based language product scoring it a massive 82%. It beat its nearest rival by 20%. Scoring highly on performance, fun, ease of use and versatility, the magazine had the following to say:
By far the best program on test. Combining solid and varied teaching methods with a fun and intuitive design it ticked most of our boxes. With regular use...our expert reckoned an avaerage student could develop basic conversational French in a matter of weeks.
IVCA Gold Award Winner!
Get Into French won the prestigious Gold Award in the Interactive Multimedia Publishing category of the International Visual Communications Association (IVCA) Awards for 2005. The IVCA has represented the corporate visual communication industry for over 30 years and the judges’ citation read as follows:
“In a year in which the multimedia entries were more technically sophisticated than in previous years Get Into French made the most imaginative and effective use of the interactive technology. It is a tribute to the producers that this complexity is never obtrusive – indeed the programme appears deceptively simple. It makes exceptionally good use of graphics, is visually engaging and has excellent support material. A fun way to learn French.” (Please visit www.ivca.org for further information.)
Testimonials
“The story CD for listening practice in Get into French is excellent. Can I buy more? It is so good to be able to play the CD in the car, replaying the tracks if necessary. Most audio learning aids require the student to read the book at the same time and carry out an exercise. With this CD you get an adult story that uses day to day French and makes you think. More, more, more please!!” A satisfied learner in Ramsgate, Kent
Q. What is it? A. Get into French is an engaging, immersive and interactive new language course for people on the go. Its flexible approach puts you firmly in control of how, when and where you learn, with either a CD-ROM alone, or a complete course with the CD-ROM, supported by a book, audio CD and website. Focusing on real language in real situations, Get Into French will give you the confidence to use the language you have acquired, whether you are eating out, shopping, meeting new people or just enjoying the experience of life in France. As a character in a virtual French town, there is no better way to practice your language skills in a realistic context. This beginners' course is produced in conjunction with Cambridge University Language Centre.
Q. Who is it for? A. The course is aimed at beginners and those who know a little French.
Q. How do I use it? A. You choose how and where you want to learn-at home, on the train, even in the office- with supporting book, audio and website. Animated locations take you into the 'real' situation, where you can decide to follow a structured learning path or, if you feel you already know some of the language simply jump in and 'have a go'. You can observe conversations between other on-screen characters and take part in them yourself. Each topic has comlimentary activities and the revision notes help you to assess your progress. Key language is presented through typical holiday scenarios (finding accommodation, shopping, getting around, eating out, chatting) to help you communicate as soon as you set foot in the country.
Q. What language level could I reach? A. Focusing on genuine communication, the course encourages you to develop all your skills, with opportunities to listen, speak, read and learn how to write e-mails and letters. You could reach approximately the same standard achievable in any first qualification, such as GCSE level.
